JOHANNESBURG - Last year, mining houses spent almost R5-billion on mining towns. It says this was to improve the lives of mining-affected communities. It comes as these communities demand more benefits from the riches being dug up beneath their feet. The Minerals Council says many community needs are not met due to a lack of consultation.
