ABOUT

Women in Mining Education and Development Heroes 2025

In its ongoing commitment to advancing gender diversity and inclusion in the mining industry, the Minerals Council’s Women in Mining Leadership Forum (WiMLF) runs an annual campaign celebrating women who make a notable contribution to the South African mining sector through the Women in Mining (WiM) Heroes initiative.

This year, WiMLF stands with the global United Nations theme: Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls. The 2025 focus on Education and Development highlights women driving skills development, mentorship and knowledge-sharing across the industry. Globally and locally, the importance of developing human capital and fostering education in mining has gained momentum, with companies embracing strategies to upskill employees, empower communities and create future-ready talent pipelines.

Through this initiative, WiMLF shines a spotlight on female trailblazers nominated by their peers for their outstanding work in education and development within their organisations and across the mining sector. These leaders demonstrate visionary commitment to learning, mentoring and empowering the next generation, while fostering inclusive, skilled and innovative workplaces.

The WiMLF is proud to announce this year’s WiM Education and Development Heroes 2025.
